Xbox Series X Microsoft's new console revealed

At the last E3 2019 Microsoft spoke with enthusiasm about its next console. During the past months we knew her as Project Scarlett and we could not deduce anything with the pure name. However Microsoft let us know many details from the beginning. The new Xbox is expected to have support to enjoy high FPS and large resolutions. 4K and playing at more than 60 FPS is a PC exclusive and it is not cheap at all.

The Xbox One will be 7 years old by the time the new console is released. During its lifetime it had several redesigns. The most prominent version is the Xbox One X that allowed him to bring the 4k to consumers. Yet achieving such a feat went hand in hand with sacrifices in performance. The new console hopes to overcome these obstacles and take the experience to a new level. Without a doubt, this will also benefit video game developers.

We finally know his name and image

Xbox Series X is the name of Microsoft's next console. It was unexpectedly announced during The Game Awards on December 12th. We can expect to have it in our homes by the end of 2020. We still don't know its price, but we'll likely find out in the coming months. What we can tell you is that it will have excellent features.

Microsoft brings us back a vertical design that we did not see from the Xbox 360. Its size is small as you can see in the promotional video. Its rectangular shape reminds us of the classic PC towers. It maintains the company's classic black color, although in a matte finish. The original model will have a disc reader. The aesthetic Xbox logo will function as the power button.

To cool the console, a single fan will be in charge of pushing the air through the upper part. This will allow the user to decide whether to use the new Xbox in portrait or landscape mode. It won't be louder than the current Xbox One X despite being four times more powerful. We can also expect it to be very energy efficient.

A slight tweak was made to the controller design for a better grip. We will have a button dedicated to recording functions and screenshots. The crosshead was changed for one similar to the one we can find in the Elite Series 2 controllers. The new control will be compatible with Windows 10, Xbox One and will be included in each Xbox Series X.

Small but powerful

Inside the new Xbox, you'll find excellent technical specifications. An 8-core processor, 16GB of RAM, and a high-performance SSD. This raw power will allow it to achieve high frame rates and reduced or nonexistent loading times. The graphics are still somewhat unknown, but we do know it will support ray tracing . Its impressive performance will enhance the gaming experience, even with older titles. It will also be backward compatible with current Xbox One games and peripherals.

Microsoft has done an excellent job with its Xbox Game Pass service and it will be one of the strengths of the next generation. The new console will face interesting challenges like the game based on the Cloud. We cannot predict which trend will end up dominating the gaming world. What we do know is that the next few years will be very interesting.
