In Australia you can buy Coca-Cola and pay with Bitcoin in the new vending machines
Coca Cola Amatil and digital asset integrator Centrapay have teamed up to allow Australians and New Zealanders to buy Coca Cola and pay with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies at more than 2.000 vending machines.
According to a press release on Tuesday, Amatil customers now have Bitcoin and other digital assets as a payment option in their Sylo Smart Wallet, which they can use at any of the more than 2.000 vending machines installed in Australia and New Zealand. The launch did not include some of the other cryptocurrencies that are supported by the wallet. Coca Cola Amatil is the largest bottler and distributor in Asia Pacific. The firm currently supports 140 brands and has an estimated 270 million consumers. Which will undoubtedly give more exposure to bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
Paying with Bitcoin is all advantages
Centrapay is a digital asset platform that helps consumers and merchants exchange value on a daily basis through the use of cryptocurrencies. According to Jerome Faury, CEO of Centrapay, poor user experiences and complexities with integration are barriers to the adoption of cryptocurrencies and web 3 technologies.
“We have solved both problems. Centrapay is a pioneer in how to enable this new Internet of value and provide its benefits to both consumers and merchants, "he added. The outbreak of the novel coronavirus has apparently created an excellent opportunity for cryptocurrencies as a medium of exchange, as they promote the contactless payments suggested by the WHO.
The integration of cryptocurrencies in Sylo Smart Wallet ensures that customers only have to scan a payment device. Via with QR code at vending machines using your phone's camera (as long as Sylo Smart Wallet is installed). This significantly reduces the number of times people need to touch the vending machine just once each time they want to make a purchase.
Companies believe the measure will help reduce the spread of the coronavirus , which continues to affect countries worldwide, with 6,93 million confirmed cases and over 400.000 deaths. Since using cryptocurrencies helps reduce physical contact with vending machines, the integration helps address hygiene issues related to virus transmission.
It also comes with the added benefit of reducing physical contact and addressing the hygiene issues we've all become very aware of due to COVID-19.
