BitMEX donates $ 2.5 million to foundations to help fight against Coronavirus
HDR Global Trading Limited, the owner of the leading Bitcoin trading and derivatives platform, BitMEX. It has announced its support in the fight against the new Coronavirus pandemic through a COVID-19 Response Fund worth millions.
As of Monday morning, April 20, the number of confirmed cases of the pandemic worldwide reached 2.414.098 with 165.153 deaths. The numbers continue to rise as researchers and scientists still struggle to solve the challenge and find a solution. BitMEX Exchange said it has donated $2.5 million to four non-profit organizations around the world to support global efforts in response to the outbreak.

Non-profit organizations, Gates Philanthropy Partners, the Nuclear Threat Initiative with its Biosafety Program, OpenMined, and Our World in Data would receive grants between $ 300.000 and $ 1.000.000. The four organizations were selected because they are leading efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
Gates Philanthropy's partners include The Combating COVID-19 Fund and The Therapeutics Accelerator Fund. The former focuses on creating vaccines, diagnostics, and protecting vulnerable people in Africa and South Asia. The latter is working to find an effective treatment for the virus.
OpenMined is a community that provides free open source education and support to developers. For COVID-19 applications so that they can adequately protect the privacy of user data.
BitMEX believes that granting these organizations access to more funds would help broaden their response to combat the virus. As well as reducing the risks of major pandemics in the future.
