Post-apocalyptic survival game DayZ gets a new update that invites survivors to embark on a new journey. DayZ update 1.21 is now available for all platforms where the game is for sale.
1.21 throws players into a medieval world, introducing the crossbow as an addition to any survivor's arsenal. With its many improvements and new features, this update makes the gameplay fresh and offers an even better gaming experience.
DayZ goes medieval with update 1.21
One of the most notable additions in update 1.21 is the crossbow, DayZ's first mechanical weapon. This lethal ranged weapon will give survivors an edge in encounters , as it can fire deadly projectiles and accommodate various sights and scopes, offering a stealthy playstyle. The bolts can be retrieved and fired again, but each shot reduces their durability. It's for reasons like these that it's one of the most highly recommended weapons in a zombie apocalypse.
Players will be able to find replicas of medieval items and clothing throughout Chernarus and Livonia, leading to a host of new possibilities. There will be a new assortment of armor, such as chain mail, leggings, coifs and Norse helms, allowing you to equip yourself as a knight prepared to lay siege to enemy strongholds.
DayZ update 1.21 also introduces the flags and bracelets of the winners of last year's Lights Out event. Players will then be able to celebrate the triumphs of their fellow survivors by coming across these symbols of victory while exploring the unforgiving landscape of Livonia.
A server login delay has been implemented for console players with multiple accounts. This delay has been deliberately introduced by the developers in order to create a healthier gaming environment, to discourage the use of multiple accounts on the same server during gameplay. In doing so, they hope to offer a fairer game and encourage a more balanced experience for everyone.
There have also been improvements to fall damage, which has been recalibrated. It now offers more realistic and predictable results . Finally, survivors can now generate bushes, trees, and rocks using the item generator and server script.
