Dead Island 2 changes developer and is still not cancelled.
Dead Island 2 is still in development by a different studio. THQ Nordic still does not want to cancel the game.
The 3 E2014 conference confirmed Uncharted 4, Bloodborne, Little Big Planet 3, Let It Die, Mortal Kombat X… Games that arrived years ago, but from that same conference we released Dead Island 2, which is regularly in the news for not wanting to be canceled . It began its development by Yager Entertainment and had a demo at consumer fairs such as Madrid Games Week in 2014, and they promised access to a beta for PlayStation Plus subscribers that never came. In July 2015 Yager left development for Sumo Digital to take over in March 2016.
Dead Island 2 still doesn't come out, let's see if the third time is the charm
THQ Nordic, who owns Dead Island 2 by owning Deep Silver, has commented in a recent shareholder report that the game has passed into the hands of another developer. Those in charge of doing so will be Dambuster Studios.
This development team was in charge of finishing Homefront: The Revolution. And we say “finishing” because the second title in the Homefront series also underwent developer changes throughout its creation. The pressure to release a game as soon as possible is not good, and we have this title as an example, along with The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy XV, which, while they can be considered decent or good, it is very noticeable that they discarded ideas and finished the game with what they could.
It's a huge irony that Danbuster Studios has to put the pieces back together for a game in a state of "development hell." THQ Nordic hasn't said when it plans to release Dead Island 2, but we can expect late next year as a possible final date, or at least the beta that was promised back in 2014.
