Dead Island 2 continues in development

Deep Silver, the editor of the Dead Island 2 zombie game, has confirmed that the sequel to this title is still in development and the studio who is in charge of it is Sumo Digital who is working on it.

Dead Island 2 is one of those video games that almost got canceled, but was rescued at the last minute by its publisher. Production began at Yagger , the studio behind Spec Ops: The Line , but Deep Silver decided to take the project back and steer it in a different direction, handing it over to Sumo Digital , the developer of LittleBigPlanet 3 , among other games.

This change of developer occurred almost two years ago, and since then we've heard very little about the project. Now the publisher has confirmed to Eurogamer that Dead Island 2 is still in development despite the silence surrounding the zombie action game.

According to the publisher: "Dead Island 2 is in development at Sumo Digital, and we're very excited about the progress the studio is making with one of Deep Silver's most successful intellectual properties ." It's unknown whether they will show anything about the game at the upcoming E3 2017, so we don't know any further details about it, except that it's still in development and doesn't currently have a release date.

The game is in development for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC , and in its original concept it was planned to take the player to a coastal area plagued by the undead, with cooperative options and large doses of violence.
