Activision has reconfirmed that Destiny 2 is still scheduled for this year, although it has not yet been officially unveiled.

Activision Blizzard 's financial board has confirmed that the sequel to the popular space shooter Destiny will be released this fall. The company clarified that Destiny 2 will feature a cinematic story mode and a full cast of memorable characters. Destiny was released in 2014 as a space-based, multiplayer online game with three playable races to travel and fight across various planets in space.

Activision president Eric Hirshberg commented that: "We're working on new ways to make the title more accessible to casual players, but it won't lose the essence of the series." One of the biggest criticisms of Destiny was its story mode, so Activision is working to ensure the sequel has a great, cinematic story full of memorable characters.

Through this graphic, Activision has announced a complete sequel to its Destiny title for 2017, among other plans of the company with the rest of the games in charge. According to sources Kotaku, if Bungie didn't have the game ready by the end of this year, Activision would acquire a significant portion of the studio's shares in compensation, which is a great incentive for its developers to finish the title on time.

According to these same sources, the reason why news of the game has not yet arrived is that Bungie (the responsible developer study) wants to avoid the errors of promotion of the first game, which was too early and lacked in its version of many of the promises that were made, so its official announcement is expected this spring.

In addition to Bungie, three other Activision studios may be collaborating on and developing the game, though these haven't been specified yet. The sequel is also expected to have a PC version, unlike the first game, which was released on both old and new generation consoles in September 2014.
