During one of the panels devoted to the game during the Blizzcon after his announcement, Luis Barriga was answering questions from fans. One of them was that when we could expect the launch of Diablo IV and the answer is that neither the director nor Blizzard have a clue when the game will be released.

And no, it has nothing to do with whether it will be released on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, they are only platforms on which it will be released and it may well be a very late game in its life cycle after the launch of Xbox Scarlett and PlayStation 5 at the end. 2020.
