Diablo IV cannot be played offline, you must always be connected

We will not be able to play Diablo IV if we go offline. We will always have to be connected to the Blizzard servers.

In the past Blizzcon an announcement was made that, despite being leaked a few days before the convention, its announcement caused a great deal of applause: Diablo IV. The new installment of the Blizzard franchise will arrive not exactly soon on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Will not play if you are not connected

During a panel at BlizzCon 2019 on Saturday, lead designer Angela Del Priore was asked if Diablo IV will have a full offline mode. This question was asked when remembering the problems of the need for a permanent connection that Diablo III required to be able to play, even if it was to play the campaign alone.

Angela's response was that there is not going to be an offline game mode, but you don't need to have a group of friends. We can play alone and the dungeons will be private as well as the search areas of the campaign mode. Shortly after it was confirmed that the permanent connection to play Diablo IV will be requested both on PC and in the console versions, despite the fact that Diablo III could be played on consoles that were not connected to the internet.

At the time it was criticized that Diablo III asked to always be connected to Blizzard's servers, and it was a problem when they underestimated the influx of players that a long-awaited game would have at the time. Server crashes during its early days were common and it was one of the biggest stories of the moment and demonstrated the problems of always having to be online to play a game. And that's not counting the problems derived from your internet provider suffering service drops or the connection not being fast enough. But it is likely that Blizzard has learned in the face of Diablo IV, at least in the face of the number of users it expects to have playing at the same time so that the servers do not crash.
