Several Amazon customers report that they have received Intel processors, screen printed as AMD Ryzen processors and with a heatsink that is not the Wraith, although the box does look like the official one.

The launch of the AMD Ryzen processors has been a success and they are currently the best-selling processors, especially now that the small initial problems are already polished. As always, there are those who take advantage of any situation to develop a strategy that allows them to make money by scamming users and that is what has happened through the Amazon portal and that is that two anonymous users have reported that they have had significant problems when they have reached them the AMD Ryzen processors they had purchased through Amazon.

As soon as these processors came out, something similar already happened, but in that case Intel processors were introduced instead of AMD's or the package arrived manipulated. This is different, since the scam through Amazon is better organized and it is that two users have reported that they have received counterfeit processors. The two users, whose names have been anonymous, have denounced buying Ryzen processors, but having received a non-Ryzen processor, due to a blatant scam initiated by one or more people, although who they are is unknown.

Amazon, as expected, has offered a refund or exchange of the amount for a gift card, but the problem is that whoever is, unfortunately, with one of these processors, could damage the motherboard, if they do not have knowledge to detect the scam. The problem with these processors is that it is not a Ryzen, but rather an Intel processor that makes use of the LGA socket. The scam is achieved, since they have polished the HIS, to eliminate the marks that Intel silkscreen and have reproduced the silkscreen of the AMD Ryzen, as we see in the image. The difference is not seen until you are going to install it in the AM4 socket.

The first scam was reported on July 8 by the user sh00ter999, which pointed to be an isolated case, but it is that a second user has uploaded another report, also to Reddit, in this case on July 15, with what which you have to be very attentive to scams. The processors arrive with an official heatsink different from the Wraith, which is the official one, therefore, it seems that in both cases a person or criminal group is behind it that is scamming users. They may not be the only cases that are published, since there could be more cases. Our recommendation is, before installing, compare with images of the Ryzen on the network, especially in the pin area, to see the different one.
