AMD Drives for Linux Reveal Dual-GPU Liquid-Cooled AMD RX Vega

The new AMD drivers for Linux show new data on AMD RX Vega, revealing a graphics card with dual GPUs on a single PCB and that will be cooled by liquid cooling.

Yesterday new AMD drivers for Linux were launched, which has left us an interesting surprise within these drivers and that is that in them, as happened a few days ago, where new data on the AMD RX Vega could be read, new data appears about the new AMD graphics cards. The AMD drivers for Linux are being an interesting source of information about the AMD RX Vega, since there is no information on these graphs elsewhere. Inside these drivers there are two really interesting lines of code.

The following lines of code were found:

  • table-> Tliquid1Limit = cpu_to_le16 (tdp_table-> usTemperatureLimitLiquid1);
  • table-> Tliquid2Limit = cpu_to_le16 (tdp_table-> usTemperatureLimitLiquid2);

This is what they have found within the Linux drivers, where you can see the identification of two new codes that would in theory refer to some AMD RX Vega based on liquid cooling. These codes would refer to an ID 0x6864 and 0x6868, which would be how two AMD Vega graphics cards have been named or possibly we are talking about two GPUs integrated on the same PCB, so we would have a dual GPU graphics card with RL, which Which is not unreasonable if we consider that there is at least one dual-GPU AMD RX Vega.

amd vega

  • table-> FanGainPlx = hwmgr-> thermal_controller. advanceFanControlParameters.usFanGainPlx;
  • table-> TplxLimit = cpu_to_le16 (tdp_table-> usTemperatureLimitPlx);

The lines of code that we can see in this paragraph are the specific code for a PLX chip, which has been found within the code for Vega 10 GPUs. The PLX chip is an ASIC that manages PCIe lanes and allows several components to be connected. This is used in graphics cards that have two GPUs joined on the same PCB and that is responsible for managing traffic.

AMD VEGA PRICES AND RELEASE DATE IN DETAIL (RUMOR)

Everything indicates that we are facing the first data of the AMD RX Vega Pro Duo, something of which we already had evidence. AMD should give information at the conference scheduled for May 16, although knowing how AMD works, they still show us a t-shirt or a cap and they stay so hot.
