E3 2020 does not fall due to coronavirus but could lose its creative team

E3 2020 is hanging by a thread and it is not due to coronavirus. The creative team that would remake the event leaves three months after it starts.

We know you're reading a lot of news about the coronavirus affecting events and factories in China . If it spreads, it could affect E3 2020, the biggest video game event of the year, but the ESA has already said that unless legally prevented, they won't cancel it. And now they might cancel it due to the loss of key members.

Without Sony and without creative directors to remodel

We know Sony won't be at E3 2020 to unveil the PlayStation 5 , but that doesn't mean the video game event can't go ahead, as there are companies interested in filling the spaces Sony no longer occupies. However, this latest loss could affect them more than the absences caused by the coronavirus, which didn't prevent PAX East from taking place but did cancel GDC.

At the beginning of the year, the members of the ESA, who organize the event due to its long history of neglect by CES , announced a partnership with iam8bit. This company, among other things, organizes hundreds of video game-related events. The ESA hired them because of the significant changes E3 is undergoing, as they feel it needs to be revamped for its 2020 edition.

But what the coronavirus or the absence of Sony did not eliminate, the departure of iam8bit of the creative team of the event will. How important is this? Well, they are left without a key member when it comes to focusing E3 2020 for users and filling it with events and parties, instead of one for members of the press and players who want to play games before their departure.

Will E3 2020 be canceled? You never know, but the problems accumulate for ESA. If it is canceled, those who want to stop by to see the conferences and announcements will not miss much. With the State of Play and Nintendo Direct, the announcements for which we see the E3 conferences will arrive through the same streaming channels that we already used. At most, a physical event would be missed, but the announcements can continue to happen and even spread throughout the calendar.
