Fairy Tail RPG won't cut itself off with fanservice, for better or for worse

The Fairy Tail RPG will maintain the level of fanservice and swimsuits. They say in Guts that it is integral when making the game.

Those who have been following Fairy Tail for a while will know that, despite being aimed at the so-called “shonen” demographic of young teenage boys, the manga doesn’t shy away from having a lot of fanservice. And we’re talking about the kind that shows the girls in underwear, in suggestive poses, in bathing scenes… And it will continue in the RPG that Guts is developing.

The fanservice in Fairy Tail is the order of the day

During an interview with game producer Keisuke Kikuchi, the question arose as to whether there will be as much suggestive fanservice in the Fairy Tail game as in the manga. Faced with that Kikuchi question that during the game, the characters will go to the beach, and they plan to maintain consistency with the world of Hiro Mashima's manga.

This type of content is often included in the clauses when adapting certain intellectual properties in order to maintain consistency. In this case, Hiro Mashima has a lot to say when it comes to adapting his manga, and so when supervising the game he asked the developers to add more fan service, the producer said. Mashima also requested that certain characters not wear certain outfits or be in a particular situation.

This Fairy Tail RPG will be set during the Tenrou Island arc, the Grand Magic Games arc, and the Tartaror arc, as well as other episodes from the original story. It will begin midway through the anime series, when Natsu returns to the guild to restore it to its former glory. Throughout the game, we will face Hades, Kagura, and many other villains from the anime. We will be able to experience original character scenes to build relationships with the existing cast, as well as meet new characters. This is the level of detail this game will offer fans of the series.

Returning to the subject of fanservice, it is a complicated subject. On the one hand, fans who have finished or are reading Fairy Tail or have learned to tolerate and ignore it, and those who embrace the costumes and suggestive poses of its female characters, are the ones for this project. On the other hand, it could have been a lot less suggestive for audiences who would want to play a Fairy Tail game and enjoy the world with less sexualization of female characters. But in the end it is Hiro Mashima who commands so that this game can exist.
