Exclusive: AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards are not on mining farms, they are on Alibaba and at laughable prices

We have found the missing graphics cards from AMD and NVIDIA, which can be bought almost as gifts in China, apparently by the same assemblers that manufacture for big brands.

Where are the graphics cards? This is the question of the last hours and the answer that comes to mind is the mining of cryptocurrencies. The reason that the prices of NVIDIA and AMD are going up, at least on Amazon, so that prices go up to the beast is that there is no stock anywhere, because the cryptocurrency mining farms take them to shovels. Well, there is something that does not fit in this story and we are going to tell you where the graphics cards are. They are in China.

Yes, they're in China, and I'm sorry to say, but no, they're not in mining farms. We've been investigating the situation and decided to check out the Chinese equivalent of Amazon, Alibaba. We started searching and it turns out that you can indeed buy graphics cards there, and quite a few at that. For example, the first case is the Gallardo GTX 1060 6GB , which is sold as a mining card, but with all the necessary connectors. If we buy more than 100 units, each one will cost us $145, but not only that, they manufacture 1.000 units per month, which is a considerable amount.

This seemed good to us, but we looked further and found another seller offering NVIDIA GTX 1060/1070/1080 and AMD RX 570/480/470 cards for between $100 and $600, depending on the model. The interesting thing is that they produce 10.000 units per day, not per month or week, but per day. However, if you want a specific model, such as the KFA2 GTX 1060 HoF , you can find it for $426. Keep in mind, though, that it's sold by a manufacturer other than KFA2, so don't look for the company name on it. If you buy more than ten units, each one costs $394, and there are 99.999 graphics cards available. Interesting, isn't it?

But there's more. AMD's RX Vega cards are absurdly priced, and not just now, but for weeks now—well, since their launch. In China, these graphics cards are being manufactured at a rate of 1.000 units per day, and the RX Vega 64 and RX Vega 56 are selling for between $200 and $250, with a minimum purchase of five. There are other prices and manufacturers; these are just examples.

Many Chinese companies buy GPUs directly to manufacture for third parties and take advantage of these designs to sell their graphics cards themselves, cheaper and with the same quality as those that we can find in the rest of the world. There is no trick, or anything strange, it is quite common, indeed, if we looked for other components, exactly the same would happen.

So why these prices? Well, to this we can no longer answer you and we would like to, but it seems like a market regulation strategy or an attempt to discredit the mining of cryptocurrencies, who knows. But come on, it will be because in China they do not have stock to bore the gaming graphics card that we want and at really succulent prices. Yes, the downside is that we cannot buy directly from Alibaba, but come on, if we could ...

  1. LOOL, and is it legit to buy? Has anyone tried it? I want some Vega rx, but at that price it seems too good to be true, if someone has bought it, say so, thank you.

    1. That we know this website does not sell to Spain, you would need to do it through a third party and they will charge you and apart, you have to pay customs and taxes. But come on, the idea is not so much that you buy them, but to make it clear that the stock problem is rather simulated.

      1. I have taken an eye on the internet and it seems to me that if it sells I'm not sure because I have looked at it quickly, because I am going right to work, tonight I will look at it calmer

      1. And how do you want me to make my comment. However, your research does not go beyond the captures that you show without going beyond what is seen and the interpretation you give it, you do not think that it is something daring to affirm what you affirm with a how many captures, you could have said anything else and the People would just believe it and comments that do not agree with what is written bother you, you look worse than me.

  2. So there is no way to buy from Alibaba?
GPU stock may not be the problem, brands may not want to put them in stores

    1. I stay more with the volume of production, than with the price itself, because although you buy it very cheap, you have to pay taxes and duties

  3. The veracity of the information does not seem valid to me, in addition Alibaba is a page just like ebay, it is not known if what one buys will arrive. And you have to investigate how a graphics card is manufactured, a part of the assembly process is with people, which takes time, and that a seller says 1000 units out of nowhere is already rare.

  4. I just got together with some friends to try to buy and we ended up buying several PNY GTX 1060s and it is true that they all arrived in perfect condition and still a laughable price here in Mexico (with taxes each came out to us approx 5000mxn) being you are 8gb We thought it was going to be more but then not what they have to do is that they have to buy in large quantities anyway and that explicitly say the specs model sku etc etc and that the contact person still has reputation, the first thing is why do they sell a lot of fake gpu that ends up being a 730 or 750ti and if the specs on the page don't match. That of the gpu that they buy is a bad sign now it is also better if they have a person who is responsible in this case a friend had contact and he did the most work there are other people who are dedicated as contacts and there is even one who is Mexican or Spanish and has. YouTube channel that is dedicated to that now the third and most important have at least 20% of the extra value for taxes

  5. This, I have an uncle in Russia, his friends mine and have farms, a friend of his buys gtx 1070 in quantities +500, special grx 1070 to mine with oc give 40 megahashes in eth, it costs them $ 350 every 1070, about € 300, me go crazy, that if it says there are no pci-e xd risers, I'm going to send them from Spain, it says that the pci-e truck enters they take them, they fly, but gpu there is to bore
