Feral Interactive develops a tool for Linux, called GameMode, that improves performance
The developers of Feral Interactive have created an open source tool for Linux, which they have dubbed GameMode and which improves performance in games, notably.
Valve has been concerned in recent years to promote games for Linux, encouraging developers to publish games compatible with this open source operating system on Steam. One of the main game developer companies for Linux is Feral Interactive, who are also experts in carrying out games portability from this operating system to Windows. Now they have announced that they have developed an open source library that allows games to be optimized for the open platform, which has been dubbed GameMode.
This GameMode is a daemon / library combination for Linux, which allows you to make optimization adjustments automatically, while the game is running. This allows users who opt for Linux, even to play games, see how their system gives the maximum performance in games, without the need to be typing command for optimization.
The normal thing is that in Linux, a processor does not give the maximum of its benefits, causing performance problems. Those who use GameMode will have the characteristic of integrating a software that regulates the power of the processor, avoiding that the working frequency is lowered when it is not due or that it does not increase with respect to the load, which will provide an increase in the framerate , improving the fluidity of the game, with this measure.
A performance comparison has also been published with GameMode active and without GameMode activated, which presents important differences in performance in the F1 2017 game, which improves by 10%, and the Company of Heroes 2, which improves up to 25%. This tool, of course, offers system optimization, to obtain a significant performance improvement, there is no doubt in this regard.
Those of you who use Linux can download GameMode from GitHub, because it is an open source tool accessible to all users.
