NVIDIA would have the NVIDIA Shield Portable 2 ready for at least six months to market, although it is unknown because it has not been announced or put on sale.
Although NVIDIA was quite disappointing at CES 2017 with its press conference where it presented many news, but it did not see everything, it seems. NVIDIA continues to bet on developing products for Android and one of its most prominent products was the NVIDIA Shield Portable, a portable console shaped like the XBOX console controller, but with an integrated 5 ”screen, which allows you to play anywhere and now it seems to be updated.
The specialized media Android Police, NVIDIA has developed an update for this console. The information comes from a document that would have been sent to the FCC and that allows us to see what the Shield Portable 2 would look like (the name could be provisional). According to the information, this console should have already reached the market, with a slight face lift in terms of design, changes to the buttons, a somewhat different central area and a slightly different body, being a little more rectangular than the previous version.
The base of this console remains, since the folding screen is the same as the previous version, more or less. The initial screen was 5 inches, but this new screen could be slightly larger, something we are not aware of. We do know, regarding connectivity, that it has high-energy efficient WiFi and Bluetooth. It also has a 3.5mm jack connector for headphones, HDMI port and a slot for microSD memories.
It should be noted that the information comes from the summer of 2016, when these documents were sent to the FCC for certification. Now, we do not know if the reason for the delay of this product with respect to the commercialization or if the screen has received a major update and the hardware news, which will logically have. Who knows if in the end it will reach the market or not.
