The new Intel Core i5 8500 processor can be seen in SiSoft Sandra, which maintains the number of cores and threads of the Core i5 8400, but with an improved working frequency, which does not affect the TDP, which is also maintained.

This beginning of the year is being especially difficult for Intel, due to the problems generated by the Specter and Meltdown vulnerabilities. The company is finalizing new processors for this first quarter of 2018, which will be within the Coffee Lake family, which will arrive with new motherboards with B360 and H310 chipset, cheaper and simpler plates, designed for the mid-range and entry. The processor within this family that has just been revealed is the i7 8500, which will come to replace the i5 8400, which has six cores and six processing threads.

The new Intel processor will have a base frequency of 3.2GHz and in Boost mode it will be able to reach 4.3GHz, which contrasts with the frequencies of the i5 8400, which has a base frequency of 2.8GHz and a Boost mode of 4.0GHz. The L3 cache is kept, which will remain 9MB, as well as the TDP, which will also be 65W, so just change the frequency. Regarding performance, in Arithmetic it has given 139.63GOPS, while in multimedia test it has given 317.88Mpx / s and in cryptography it has given 7.49GB / s.

It comes to compete with the Ryzen 5 1600 and will be around € 215-230, more or less the same as the i5 8400. We have no arrival date for the Core i5 8500, but it should arrive with the new motherboards.
