Foxconn would be studying opening a production plant in the United States

Foxconn is considering making a large investment to open a production plant in the United States, although there is still no date for the start of construction or a final location.

The arrival of Trump to the presidency of the United States is shaking the foundations of the whole world and also of technology. If a few days ago we learned about the possibility that companies that develop products for Apple, such as TSMC, Sharp and Foxconn, were considering transferring their factories to the United States, totally or partially, in order not to oppose the president anymore. controversial United States.

Well, it seems that Foxconn really is considering opening a new factory in the United States. The Chinese company has plans to expand its technology product line and one of the new locations to open a new serious factory, opening it on US soil. The total investment for the company would be around 7.000 million dollars and it is foreseeable that this will happen as long as they have sufficient incentives, such as a reduction in tax charges, among others.

The founder of the company, Terry Gou would have confirmed this in an interview he would have given to the Wall Street Journal. The idea of the founder of Foxconn is to open his plant in Pennsylvania and create between 30.000 and 50.000 new jobs, although all this has yet to be studied and many confirmations and data would be missing. Gou in the interview commented:
“When Masayoshi Son and Trump had a meeting with the media, Son compromised my situation. If the U.S. government is willing to provide and follow these terms, and we calculate that it would be more beneficial to us than shipping from China or Japan, then Sharp would have no reason not to build a manufacturing plant in the United States (…) Right now Pennsylvania sounds very promising. I need to talk to other states to speed up the process or we will continue with Pennsylvania”
Although everyone says they feel threatened by the plans of the tycoon and President Donald Trump, the search for a location, conditioning, construction, assembly of machinery and the start of production can perfectly take between two and three years, which seems little. It is logical that these movements take place before the passage of a president who may only hold power for four years.
