Futuremark shows a demo of 3DMark with DirectX Raytracing technology

It could not be otherwise. Futuremark presents a demo of its 3DMark software, for the hardware benchmark, which implements DirectX Raytracing, which will be implemented in its tool at the end of the year.

We've been talking a lot about new light tracing technologies for a couple of days, a new technique that will be implemented in video games. DirectX Raytracing (DXR) for DirectX 12, is a new technology that aims to revolutionize the video game industry and is based on NVIDIA RTX technology, but already integrated in DX12. Now, this technology has been implemented by the company specialized in benchmark software, such as Futuremark, who will integrate it into its future benchmark tools.

Effects such as reflections in real time, is something complex and a challenge, especially at the hardware level, since the necessary computing power is brutal. The combination of DirectX Raytracing with other current technologies will allow for better visual effects. Through DXR, reflections can be reproduced on objects that are out of plane, something that will allow more precise and correct reflections, in addition, to see all kinds of reflections on reflective surfaces, more precise shadows, improvements in landscape lighting and many more things.

The technology of light rays is not something that has been taken out of the sleeve, this technology has existed for a long time, especially, it is widely used in cinema. The problem is that this technology, being heavy and complex and requiring many calculations, was not feasible to implement in real time and now it will be possible, as long as we have an NVIDIA Volta with its Tensor Cores, the core developers especially for Artificial Intelligence and Learning. Deep, two techniques that require a lot of computing power.

Futuremark has shown a development video, since they have been one of the first companies to implement DirectX Raytracing, which will be implemented within their 3DMark benchmarks later this year.
