# IO2017: Google Lens, information in real time just by pointing the camera at objects or places
Machine Learning at the service of users implemented in Google Lens, which will allow us to know data about objects, sites or images that we see on the street simply by pointing the camera.
Google Lens is another of the important novelties that is being presented at the moment at Google I / O 2017. Google wants that once the images taken with the Smartphone have been optimized and that the quality of them increases, being a clear example of quality in image processing, the Google Pixel, the next step for the company is that the cameras of the smartphones are as advanced as possible and offer the user the company's Machine Learning. This will be reflected in Google Lens.
The Google Lens utility is how the company has dubbed the advancement regarding image recognition in some of the services the company offers. Google Photos and Assistant will be the tools that will be compatible with this solution that will analyze through Machine Learning what is being pointed at with the camera at that moment, allowing to show images related to what is shown or offer actions or related information. This is based on real-time image analysis.

We must say that Google Lens seems like a pretty interesting utility and that it can end up being quite useful. This utility could identify the type of flower that appears in an image, for example, even the possibility of reserving at a restaurant or knowing the criticisms that the place has on Google Maps just by pointing to its façade. If we saw, for example, the poster of a concert, we would see options such as watching a video of the singer or group on YouTube or where to buy their music, buy tickets for their next concert or simply add the date of the concert to our calendar.
We are facing an interesting solution, being realistic, that can give us a lot of information without having to go around in hundreds of searches. Google Lens will hit Photos around the end of the year.
