Half-Life 2 is updated so that its characters can blink
Half Life 2 has received an update 15 years after its release. Characters now blink, and certain bugs have been fixed.
For some reason, Valve has decided to release a patch for Half-Life 2. Its mission? Make the characters blink and not always keep their eyes open. Possibly a problem that almost nobody had noticed and that nobody had noticed, but Valve has decided to update the game for some reason. That is what the owners of the game have found when they saw that they had an update pending download,
Patch for Half-Life 2
That's one of the main reasons for that mysterious patch for a game from fifteen years ago. The other fixes are a small save game fix, SteamVr fix when entering options, and certain sound fixes.
Everything here indicates that they are updating and testing with the Source engine to better adapt it to Virtual Reality, the market in which Valve is betting heavily. They are all elements that improve immersion, one of the key points of Virtual Reality. For some reason, they have found it useful to apply those changes to the classic game that they released fifteen years ago.
These changes apply to everything related to Half-Life 2: the main game, Episode One, Episode Two, Lost Coast, and Source. But don't get your hopes up that they're working on Half-Life 3. This is a very minor patch of content related to the Source engine, which they're adapting for Virtual Reality, and it was most likely done by a team that had nothing to do with the original game. It's a nice touch that they've updated such an old game, but don't get your hopes up because they're not working on the third installment.
