AMD updates the AGESA microcode of Raven Ridge APUs with AMD Ryzen processor and RX Vega graphics

After some time of complaints from users, AMD has released an AGESA 1002a microcode, for the Raven Ridge, which have an AMD Ryzen processor and AMD RX Vega graphics.

A few days ago we echoed that it had been two months since AMD released drivers or another update for Raven Ridge processors, or what is the same, AMD APUs based on Zen cores, such as AMD Ryzen and RX Vega graphics. Well, it seems that the time waited for the Ryzen 5 2400G and the Ryzen 3 2200G to be updated could have been worth it, since the company has solved part of the problems of these processors by publishing the AGESA 1002a microcode.

Users with these issues were complaining of major performance issues, especially in Assassin's' Creed Origins. Mainly, the problems were in the Raven Ridge 2200G, which was experiencing performance problems in both the processor and the integrated graphics, which seemed to be caused by some kind of problem with the power management system.

AMD has been working on the problem and has developed a microcode update, AGESA 1002a, to correct this problem and to be implemented by manufacturers in future BIOS updates. The company has also published on Twitter that this update will allow the aforementioned APUs to improve performance and fluidity in titles such as PUBG, Overwatch and Minecraft (yes, Minecraft, the minesweeper of the XNUMXst century).

Beware, now the ball is in the court of motherboard manufacturers, who must develop BIOS with this update, to improve APU performance. Now it is necessary for AMD to launch a driver update, which also affects the RX Vega M graphics integrated in these APUs, improving graphics performance. We don't know why, but Ryzen tend to have performance issues and are hard to fix.
