AMD has finished the development of Zen3 and they are already working on Zen4
Not only has AMD introduced the EPYC Rome, but they have also said that the design of Zen3 has already been finalized and they have started designing Zen4.
AMD's status is the company's best in years. The company is very strong in all processor segments. It is still lacking in the graphics card market, but with Navi 10 the light is seen at the end of the tunnel, which will be confirmed when they launch their first fully RDNA GPU. But they have no time to waste and that is why they have already announced that Zen3 has been completed.
During the AMD EPYC Rome presentation, the company highlighted that the development of Ze3 is complete. These new processors will be based on a 7nm+ process, so the improvement over Zen2 will be approximately 10%. It's very interesting to learn that they are already working on Zen4, using an unknown lithography.
AMD says Zen3 design is complete and work has already started on Zen4
It should be noted that the Zen3 will be the last to use the AM4 socket. Zen4 is scheduled to arrive in 2021 with a new socket and support for DDR5 RAM. DDR5 will not be supported in Zen3 because the socket would have to be redesigned, as Lisa Su said some time ago. Even Lisa Su, current CEO of AMD, has highlighted that they already work on Zen5.
On Zen3 highly relevant data has not been given. The head of the company has stressed that the IPC will improve and will have greater I / O connectivity. He has also highlighted that it will be manufactured in 7nm EUV instead of 7nm DUV like the Zen2. Some improvements that will make them more efficient and have higher frequencies.
Zen4 would not arrive until 2021 and here we would already see important news. These new processors, obviously, will support PCIe 5.0 and DDR5, among other improvements. Very little is known about these, but everything indicates that they would be manufactured in 5nm by TSMC.
