AMD changes the Vega 20 logo in 7nm that will only arrive for the professional segment

Logo change (minimum) for the new AMD Vega 20, which will be based on 7nm and will only arrive for the professional segment.

This information on a technical level contributes little, but it is curious since with this move AMD is erasing the legacy of Raja Koduri, who did what he could to launch a good product despite being green and suffering a brutal cut in the development budget . AMD filed a trademark application with the USPTO, specifically, they presented a new logo for the second generation Vega graphics architecture, which will be based on the 7nm lithography developed by TSMC. The registered logo is for the Vega 20 of 7nm.

New logo for the AMD Vega 20 based on 7nm

The difference between the original logo is minimal. We see the same logo but with two white lines that symbolize the number 2 in Roman numerals (II). This will be seen in the Radeon Pro and Radeon Instinct and it is worth remembering that Vega in 7nm will not reach the gaming market, it will remain exclusively for the professional segment, who can pay for expensive graphics with HBM2 memory.

We must emphasize that Navi will be the architecture that replaces Vega in the field of gaming and will be based on the 7nm of TSMC. They should presumably be much better than the Vega, not only in performance, but also in energy efficiency.

Vega 20 will be based on TSMC 7nm and the memory bandwidth will be doubled, because the HBM2 support a 4096bit interface. The reduction of the size of the transistors will also allow to obtain higher frequencies at the silicon level while controlling consumption in a noticeable way, a serious problem in Vega 10.

We are all watching the AMD Keynote during CES 2019, where we expect the AMD Ryzen 3000 Series processors to be presented and the first data regarding the RX Navi will also be given, which would arrive much later, possibly in the middle of the year.
