AMD's B550 chipset would support Zen + architecture Ryzen processors
A few weeks ago, AMD launched motherboards with the B550 chipset , which hasn't been without controversy. This chipset only supports processors with Zen 2 architecture and higher, or in other words, the Ryzen 3000 series. Therefore, this chipset doesn't support Ryzen 1000 and Ryzen 2000 processors, although it technically can. Several reports suggest that it does support Ryzen 2000 processors.
We want to emphasize that AMD initially indicated that their motherboards would support several generations of processors. With the Ryzen 3000 the problems began because the BIOS was smaller than it should and limited the support for Ryzen 3000. Now it has been the brand itself through microcode that prevents the installation of Zen and Zen + processors.

Notably, the B550 chipset has been released almost a year after the X570 chipset. This already caused some discomfort, since if you wanted PCI-Express 4.0, you had to pay for an X570 that are not cheap. After months AMD has finally released this new chipset that only supports Zen2 and Zen3, limiting users.
Well, they have shown that the Zen + architecture Ryzen 5 3400G and Ryzen 5 2600X work on the TUF Gaming B550M-Plus. This ASUS motherboard uses the June 15 BIOS, which does not indicate support for Pinnacle Ridge or Picasso.
These tests have been conducted in China and have indicated that we should not try to "do this at home." Possibly after this many try to install Zen + processors in a B550 and perform different tests. We do not know if it is something exclusive to ASUS or is that AMD in the end has given its arm to twist.
All of this can be verified by the CPU-Z screenshots that have been posted to verify what was said. Theoretically, there is no compatibility between the chipset and the processors, but there they are, working. We will see how AMD reacts to all this.
