AMD: The Ryzen 9 3900X would have limited stock and it sells so well, that on Amazon it is above 700 euros
It seems that the stock of the new AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is so limited, that in Amazon this processor has risen above 700 euros.
On July 7th, AMD launched its Ryzen 3000 and RX 5700 Series processors. The company's processors, in particular, have been very well received by users. Zen 2 @ 7nm is selling exceptionally well and has managed to dethrone Intel from its leading position in the processor market. So much so, in fact, that the Ryzen 9 3900X is currently out of stock.
The bet on the part of AMD has been quite strong with these new processors and especially with the Ryzen 9 3900X. This 12-core, 24-thread processor at the price of Intel's Core i9 9900K with more cores and more threads is being sold on the street. We are talking about a processor for Workstation launched for the gamer market.
AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Processor Out of Stock
It is currently not known what the shortage of this processor is due to. It may be a combination of low manufacturing and high demand. Possibly AMD did not correctly calculate the impact of this processor on the market and few are produced. It is true that it was difficult to calculate the demand for a 12-core processor that is around 550-600 euros.
Demand is so high and stock so limited that prices have skyrocketed. On Amazon, the remaining Ryzen 9 3900X units are going for over €700, well above that. However, at Coolmod you can still find this processor for €546 , at least for now.
A situation that we have already seen in the graphics card market and more recently in Intel. We saw in the summer of 2018 how Intel Core prices rose due to demand exceeding production capacity. AMD should only ask TSMC for the DIE manufacturing increase and GlobalFoundries for the Northbridge manufacturing increase.
