AMD: Renoir APUs would be based on Zen2 @ 7nm cores and feature up to 12 cores
Rumors indicate that AMD Ryzen APUs based on Zen2 @ 7nm would already be in the manufacturing process and would arrive with up to 12 cores.
AMD APUs based on the Zen architecture are typically one generation behind processors. The Ryzen 3000 based on Zen2 @ 7nm they integrate APUs based on Zen + @ 12nm. A rumor has just popped that indicates that the company would be finalizing the launch of the new APUs. These new high-performance APUs would be 4th Generation, also known as AMD Renoir.
We want to make it clear that this is all a mere rumor and although it is said that they are on the way, they may only be in development. In addition to being based on Zen2 cores, they may integrate Navi graphics. Remember that all current APUs integrate Vega graphics, which are not bad not bad.
AMD is finalizing the launch of APUs based on 7nm
As leaked these would be the APUs for laptops:
- Ryzen 9 B12 (45W)
- Ryzen 7 B10 (45W)
- Ryzen 5 B8 (45W)
- Ryzen 9 PRO B12 (15W)
- Ryzen 7 PRO B10 (15W)
- Ryzen 5 PRO B8 (15W)
- Ryzen 3 PRO B6 (15W)
The interesting thing is that these APUs will arrive with 12 cores and 24 threads at their maximum, which would be the Ryzen 9. This processor will compete with the Core i9-9980HK, Intel's top-of-the-range 8-core processor for laptops.
We would have Ryzen 7 APUs below that would have 10 cores. The Ryzen 5 would arrive with 8 cores and the Ryzen 3 with 6 cores. APU with 4 cores will also arrive, possibly within the Athlon range.
These processors should reach the market in 2020 and should mean a revolution in laptops. Little by little AMD is entering the laptop market, not without difficulties. Intel has taken over this market and has its tricks in this market.
