AMD: Maintains 17.1% market share in Q2019 XNUMX
Processor sales data published in AMD's Q2 2019, seeing a stagnation in sales awaiting the Ryzen 3000.
At the beginning of the month, we saw AMD processor sales figures in Spain , where Intel continues to dominate. Although it seemed Intel would gain an advantage in the Spanish market, the first week of Ryzen 3000 sales figures revealed a different reality. Everyone is free to consider whatever factors they like, but the new AMD market share data tells a different story.
The data shown is from the second quarter of this year. Obviously this data has the problem that the Ryzen 3000 were not yet on the market. We assume that things changed a bit in the third quarter, where Zen2 @ 7nm was already on the market. Despite everything, it will not be until the last quarter of the year when the market is revolutionized.
AMD stalls in Q2019 3000, ahead of Ryzen XNUMX
While the Ryzen 3000 should start to show in July, between the summer holidays and the backward compatibility issues, it won't be until the last quarter of the year when its effect is really noticeable. Although they were launched in early July, it should be in September when the Ryzen 3000 takes center stage. Surely in the Christmas period they also have a great pull.
It is true that AMD has the advantage of beating Intel, which continues with 14nm, although it is circumstantial. They are expected to launch their 10nm processors by the end of the year, with 2.7 times more density than 14nm. This will represent a significant leap in performance, efficiency and cores.
Meanwhile, AMD in Q2 2019 has maintained a market share of 17.1%, the same as in Q1 2019. The interesting thing is that compared to Q2 2018 the company has improved its market share by 4.8%. Without a doubt a very relevant piece of information. We will see if the data from the Q3 2019 show a bit the Ryzen 3000 processors.
