AMD: Navi 14 already has support in Mesa 19.2

Support is added for AMD's Navi 14 in Mesa 19.2, although it is initially planned that support would have been added in Mesa 19.3.

For weeks now, there's been talk about AMD Radeon graphics cards based on the Navi architecture. Currently, we have the RX 5700 XT and RX 5700 based on Navi 10 @ 7nm . Lisa Su said these wouldn't be the only graphics cards they would release, but nothing more is known. We've seen a Navi 14 GPU leaked on Linux and in the CompuBench database.

Well, a Navi 14 has resurfaced, revealed by Phoronix . It seems they found a reference to this graphics card within the Mesa 3D 19.2 supported hardware library. Theoretically, a Navi 14 would be a card inferior to the RX 5700, possibly replacing the RX 5600 or RX 5500.

New reference to the Navi 14, this time in Mesa 3D

The RX 5700s hit the market last July and we are all expecting to see new graphics based on RDNA + GCN. We look forward to seeing less powerful solutions than the graphs presented. The current two models compete with the RTX 2060, RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070 and solutions are expected to compete with the GTX 16 Series. Also, these new Navi should replace the RX 500 Series that are still going strong.

The integration of support in Linux and Mesa 3D indicates that its launch is very close, although we do not know anything about them. Everything indicated that this implementation of Navi 14 would be in Table 19.3, but in the end it is integrated into Table 19.2 because it is already ready. This has been requested by Marek Olsak, AMD RadeonSI Gallium 3D driver developer. Support was added on August 26.

Table 19.2 will be launched in three phases, the first on August 27, the second on September 3 and the last on September 10. Table 19.3 will not begin to be implemented until October, with its debut scheduled for November 5. What we do not know is when AMD launched the Navi 14.
