Supposedly and according to the latest leak, the top of the range AMD Navi could carry a total of 5120 Stream Processors.
Leaks regarding AMD's Navi graphics cards continue. A few days ago, the potential prices and performance of these cards were leaked. They are supposedly going to be unveiled on the 27th during AMD's keynote address at Computex 2019. These Navi graphics cards are crucial for AMD, as it's a do-or-die situation. Now, the maximum number of Stream Processors for these new Radeon graphics cards has been revealed.
AMD Navi would have up to 5120 Stream Processors
Navi will be based on the 7nm manufacturing process, which should offer a significant improvement in performance and consumption. This new graphics card will use GDDR6 memory with a 256-bit interface. This should offer a memory bandwidth between 50-70% compared to the previous generation Polaris 30.
The previous generation of graphics offered us 4 Stream Engine that each could incorporate a maximum of 10 Compute Units. Each CU incorporates a total of 64 ROPs, which means that we will have a total of 2560 Stream Processors (4 SE x 10 CU x 64 ROP). The new Navi graphics have 8 Stream Engine, so the number of Stream Processors is doubled, theoretically.
These new graphics with 8 Stream Engines could count between 4 CU and 5 CU for the high-end Navi models. The supposed RX 3070 would carry 2048 Stream Processors and the supposed RX 3080 would carry 2560 Stream Processors. The top of the range model could incorporate 10 CUs, allowing a supposed RX 3090 XT to reach up to 5120 SP.
This information about the AMD Navi is a rumor, so let's take it with a grain of salt. So far, a lot of information has come out and some quite contradictory. We'll see what happens next Monday.
