AMD DirectML Super Resolution to compensate for RayTracing losses
One of the big problems with RayTracing technology is the high cost of performance it causes. Creating the ray traces and the different effects that they generate is really complicated and causes significant performance losses. NVIDIA to compensate it has developed DLSS, while AMD would be in the development of this technology, which was called DirectML Super Resolution.
From AMD they had already commented that they were developing a technology similar to that of NVIDIA. Both companies base their technology on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, of course. All to try to compensate for the loss of performance generated by activating the RayTracing technology through image rescaling.

This technology is still under development and could take a long time to become available. But Microsoft has confirmed that this technology will be supported by the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S. Both platforms will receive support for DirectML that works through Machine Learning. Meanwhile Sony has not yet given information on whether they will support this technology on the PS5.
Microsoft and AMD would have been working together to develop this Super Resolution technology:
Through a close collaboration between Xbox and AMD, we have not only delivered on this promise, but have gone much further by introducing additional next-generation innovation such as Machine Learning accelerated hardware capabilities for better NPC intelligence. This results in more realistic animations and improved visual quality through techniques like ML Super Resolution.
DirectML will not be a closed technology for Radeon solutions, but a solution has been created that goes beyond that. PC and Xbox games are wanted to implement machine learning in new ways.
For its part, Microsoft has shown this technology within the Forza Horizon 3 game with a rescaling from 1080p to 4K, achieving a fairly sharp image.
FidelityFX Super Resolution
The new AMD technology will be released under the GPUOpen toolkit. The main aim is to attract developers to create solutions using this technology. Since AMD have not given much more data either, only Scott Herhelman, Radeon General Manager, has confirmed that Super Resolution has been developed to improve performance under RayTracing.
Curiously, AMD did not give much data in the presentation of the RX 6000 of RayTracing or Super Sampling technologies. This has been something quite commented and that has given for many rumors in recent weeks.
