AMD recovers Project Quantum and would be based on a Ryzen 5000 and an RX 6000
Tech companies sometimes announce big projects or breakthrough technologies that can end in nothing. One of these cases is AMD Project Quantum, a project announced in mid-2015 and about which we stopped knowing anything in mid-2016. During these years nothing has been known about this project, until now, that it seems that he has risen.
Initially AMD Project Quantum was based on an Intel Core i7-4790K and a Radeon R9 Fury X. Although there is no official record, the project would have stalled pending the hope that AMD could offer a competitive CPU and GPU. It appears that the company is finally in a position to recover this project, as shown by a leaked patent.

According to the leaked patent, the company has recovered Project Quantum after having it in a drawer during this type of event. The new prototype, as has been leaked, is based on a Ryzen 5000 and a Radeon RX 6000. The raw power will be put by the Zen3 architecture processor and the RDNA2 architecture graphics. While this architecture will not be the most cutting-edge on the market, it is AMD's best solution for gaming today.
The system was initially based on an ASRock Z97E-ITX / ac motherboard and the Intel Core i7-4790K processor. It was accompanied by Crucial Ballistix DDR4 memory, an AMD SSD and an R9 Fury. The last attempt was already using a Ryzen 1000 and a Vega 64/56, but it seems that it was ruled out by the graphics.

The Vega architecture has a lot of temperature problems in large silicons and had a very high consumption. These two problems made the development of a so compact system competing with the Intel NUC. Although it is true that Vega iGPUs are very good, due to the limited number of Stream Processors.
