Filtered the possible size of AMD RDNA2 GPUs
Several times this year there has been talk about a 'Big Navi' graphics card, even Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, made a mention of it. This supposed graphics card would be based on the RDNA2 architecture, which will be the basis for the next generation of graphics. We don't have much more information on these new silicones, but it is rumored that they could be larger.
The apparent size of the silicon chips for the new Navi 2x graphics cards has been leaked. This generation of graphics cards is expected to offer support for ray tracing technology . It's worth noting that AMD hasn't mentioned any hardware with ray tracing support; we know about it thanks to Microsoft and Sony consoles.

The RDNA2 architecture is rumored to offer significant performance / watt improvements. According to rumors, we will see energy efficiency increased by 50%, which is a great achievement. But we must not forget that NVIDIA would already be finalizing the Ampere architecture graphics cards, which would offer up to 50% more performance thanks to going from 12nm to 7nm from TSMC.
Twitter user KOMACHI_ENSAKA reportedly found die sizes for the new RDNA2 GPUs on the ptt.cc message board. According to the information, the Navi 21 die size will be 505mm² , the Navi 22 will be 340mm², and the Navi 23 will be 240mm² . It's worth noting that the RX 5700 XT die size is 251mm².
These silicones will arrive to offer a higher IPC and frequencies. They will have to be supplemented with specific hardware for ray tracing, hence the increase in DIE. You have already happened with Turing graphs, whose DIE is larger than Pascal's DIE, to accommodate the Tensor Cores and CUDA Cores.
As always, these are just rumors, and we'll have to wait for AMD to release more information in the coming weeks. It's worth remembering that NVIDIA's GTC 2020 will be held digitally on May 14th , where, according to all indications, the Ampere architecture will be unveiled.
