AMD lowers the price of AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors
Significant reduction in the price of the first generation AMD Ryzen Threadripper to clean the stock of processors as soon as possible.
The recent arrival on the market of the second generation AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors, which are arriving in installments, brings with it an increase in terms of cores for the professional segment of video editing, streaming, photography and the like. This causes the first generation to become 'obsolete' and to clean stock AMD is throwing the price of the first Threadripper.
AMD significantly lowered the prices of the first generation Threadripper.
When they arrived on the market they were already an interesting solution for their price but now with the reduction in their price they have become a bargain. These TR4 socket processors are of significant size that has forced heatsink manufacturers to develop very specific bespoke solutions to dissipate all the heat. Some during the first weeks did not offer stock because development was being more complicated than expected (Noctua, for example)
The most attractive is the Threadripper 1920X that has twelve cores and twenty-four threads is priced at $ 399 and this makes it much more attractive than any Intel processor, especially considering the high prices of the company's solutions ( Intel maintains prices something that will take its toll at some point)
AMD also does this to create a better niche for its second-generation processors, the thirty-two-core, sixty-four-thread Threadripper 2990WX is priced at $ 1799, while the twelve-core, twenty-four thread Threadripper 2920X is for $ 649 so it is logical and necessary to alter the price of the previous generation of processors. We will see if Intel finally gives its arm to twist and lowers the price.
