AMD Renoir: Leaked engineering benchmarks of the company's first APU @ 7nm

Three supposed benchmarks of engineered AMD Renoir APUs appear under 3DMark 11, showing what the first 7nm-based APUs would be.

Possibly one of the best solutions that AMD offers us in terms of processors are its APUs. These processors with integrated graphics are perfect for budget users who want a gaming solution. Current Picasso APUs are based on Zen @ 12nm cores. Suppose that between the Ryzen 2000G and the Ryzen 3000G there are no differences, but AMD Renoir will already offer us APUs with Zen cores @ 7nm.

An engineering version of Renoir has been shown running on a prototype board called the 'Celadon-RN'. This would have run the 3DMark 11 benchmark and the performance data for this processor has been leaked on Reddit. Specifically, three data tables have been filtered that correspond to three hardware configurations

The first one called 'config 1' shows us a processor operating at 1.7GHz and the iGPU working at 1.5GHz. The system had DDR4-2667MHz memory. The 'config 2' shows a 1.8GHz processor, but no memory and iGPU data. Finally we have the 'config 3' with the CPU operating at 2.0GHz, an iGPU operating at 1.1GHz and the DDR4-2667 memories.

We see that the 'config 1' gives a total of 3 points under 547DMark 3, which is a better result than Picasso thanks to the iGPU clock. The 'config 11' gives a worse result, this being 2 3 points. Although 'config 143' has a higher CPU frequency than 'config 2', we don't know the other parameters.

Perhaps the most interesting thing is that the 'config 3' gives a result in 3DMark 11 of 2 374 points. Despite the increased processor speed, the iGPU is clocked lower than in 'config 1'. This gives us a yield drop of around 30%, which is a significant drop.

Remember that these configurations are engineering and that different tests will be carried out. APUs usually have a fairly moderate TDP and you have to find the best possible configuration to get the best performance from the APU.
