AMD was planning to launch the Ryzen 9 3950X, which will feature 16 cores and 32 threads in September. We say had, because these processors have lagged.
A few days ago it was known that TSMC I was having trouble meeting the demand for 7nm processors. These problems are given because the Ryzen 3000 sell better than expected. In addition, the foundation has Apple's demand for chips for its new iPhones also in 7nm. These factors cause demand to exceed production capacity and hence the delays.
Ryzen 9 3950X and Threadripper delayed
The company seems that for the moment it wants to continue supplying the market with the processors it already markets. It also has the EPYC Rome market, with a growing demand and it is an equal or more important market than the consumer one. So the company has delayed the Threadripper 3000 and the Ryzen 9 3950X to avoid problems in the other segments.
Remember that the Ryzen 9 3950X has 16 cores and 32 threads. This processor works at a base frequency of 3.5GHz and will reach 4.7GHz in Boost mode. It will have 72MB of L3 cache and a TDP of 105W. It is delayed until the month of November.
Along with this processor, the third generation of Threadripper processors is also delayed until November. These new processors will arrive with 64 cores and 128 processing threads.
