AMD now says the B450 and X470 chipsets will support the Ryzen 4000
A few days ago AMD introduced the Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X processors, in addition to the B550 chipset. The presentation of this chipset revealed a dark secret and that is that the X570 and B550 chipsets will be the only ones that will support the Ryzen 4000. Of course, the community has shown its dissatisfaction and AMD has been forced to rectify its position.
The chipset compatibility picture couldn't be clearer, indicating that the Ryzen 4000 would only be compatible with the X570, B550, and the upcoming 600 Series chipsets. This even implies that the Zen4000-based Ryzen 2Gs would not be compatible with older chipsets. But in the end AMD extends the compatibility of the Ryzen 4000 to the B450 and X470 chipsets.

- We will develop and enable our motherboard partners to downgrade microcode to support “Zen3” based processors in select beta BIOSes for AMD B450 and X470 motherboards.
- These optional BIOS updates will disable support for many other existing models of AMD Ryzen desktop processors to make the necessary ROM space available.
- Select beta BIOSes will support a one-way upgrade path for AMD Ryzen processors with “Zen3,” which is coming later this year. Downgrading to a previous BIOS version will not be supported.
- To reduce potential confusion, our intention is to offer the BIOS download only to verified 400 series motherboard customers who have purchased a new “Zen3” desktop processor. This will help us ensure that customers have a bootable processor on hand to flash the BIOS first, thereby minimizing the risk of a user being stuck in a no-boot situation.
- The timing and availability of BIOS updates will vary and may not immediately coincide with the availability of early “Zen3” processors.
- This is the last avenue AMD can enable for 400 series motherboards to add new CPU support. CPU versions beyond “Zen3” will require a newer motherboard.
- AMD continues to recommend that customers choose an AMD 500 series motherboard for the best performance and features with our new CPUs.

Che Fanboy, the same AMD is telling you that in a 70% possibility that the mother does not work for you because they are BIOS Betas for that reason they are not responsible and offer you a B550 or X570 better. Or did you not read the clauses?
