Ryzen 4000 and EPYC Milan will not support DDR5 because the socket would have to be changed
It is confirmed by AMD that the Ryzen 4000 and the EPYC Milan do not support DDR5, because this would imply a socket change.
Although the EPYC Rome and the Ryzen 3000 from AMD based on Zen2 @ 7nm, you already think about the future. The company will launch them on the market on July 7. They will be AMD's next processors for data centers and servers based on the SP3 socket and the Zen3 architecture.

AMD will continue to use DDR4 at EPYC Milan
"DDR5 is a different design" and this would force to change the socket of the AMD processors. But this indirectly affects Ryzen processors that will be based on DDR4. If a new socket would be needed for EPYC, a new socket would also be needed for Ryzen. This indicates that the Zen4000-based Ryzen 3 will also use DDR4.
What seems certain is that AMD Ryzen 4000 and EPYC Milan will be based on TSMC's 7nm + lithography. Zen3 will be designed to correct some of the problems with this architecture that make it inefficient in some respects. It seeks to unleash the full potential of this processor design. Norrod stresses that they seek to offer "IPC parity across all workloads" compared to Intel.
All of this should arrive around 2020. The company is already releasing data even before AMD EPYC Rome and Ryzen 3000 hit the market.
