AMD will brand Ryzen CPUs designed for Artificial Intelligence, because it is very fashionable
This has been the year in which many people have suddenly discovered Artificial Intelligence applications , such as Dall-E, Midjourney , and the much-talked-about ChatGPT. Naturally, there are already plans for hardware to be sold to Artificial Intelligence enthusiasts, as AMD demonstrates with its new Ryzen AI CPUs.
AMD will clarify the naming of its Ryzen AI chips, such as the Ryzen 8040 APUs and the corresponding PCs designed for Artificial Intelligence, to help consumers make the right choice . This last point seems likely to be a key selling point for many retail products, as Acer is already planning to commercially sell these AI-focused computers.
AMD will mark whether a CPU or APU is for AI, so that it sells better
In a recent interview with PCWorld's Adam Patrick Murray and Mark Hachman at the "Advancing AI" event, AMD's Vice President and General Manager of Client OEM, Jason Banta, stated that they would be offering clearer branding and naming for their next-generation AI PCs . The AMD Ryzen 8040 " Hawk Point " APUs will feature several models incorporating an updated XDNA engine that operates at higher frequencies. They offer up to 16 TOPS of AI performance, a 60% increase over the 10 TOPS offered by the Phoenix APUs. However, not all Ryzen 8040 APUs include the AI engine, a point AMD wants to clarify for consumers and professionals.
AMD will make it clear in the logos used by its partners that they will be removing the "AI" label from these SKUs. APUs that support the XDNA engine will be labeled Ryzen AI . AMD has also released new stickers to distinguish between the new Ryzen 7040 APUs and older chips like Rembrandt, Cezanne, and Mendocino.
AMD's Ryzen 8040 AI PCs and laptops will be available around February 2024, while Intel's Core Ultra Meteor Lake AI will be available in the coming weeks following the December 14 launch.
