AMD Ryzen to achieve 30% market share thanks to Intel problems
It seems that AMD would achieve 30% market share in the domestic sector thanks to the good reception of the AMD Ryzen and the problems of Intel.
Intel's situation is somewhat compromised insofar as they have problems making the leap to 10nm lithography and the abuse of 14nm lithography is causing them to have a demand that exceeds the supply they can produce. This benefits its competitor AMD, which thanks to the AMD Ryzen processors have managed to regain market in the gaming segment and also steal market share thanks to Threadripper and EPYC in professional and industrial sectors.
AMD fish in troubled waters and would recover up to 30% of market share thanks to AMD Ryzen.
While Intel is struggling to meet demand, AMD seems to be experiencing no problems whatsoever. The company is selling processors at a brisk pace, a fact appreciated by motherboard manufacturers who are seeing increased orders. Digitimes suggests that AMD could reach a 30% market share by the end of this year.
'' Computer and motherboard vendors including Asustek Computer, Micro-Star International (MSI), Gigabyte Technology and ASRock have increased production and shipments of devices equipped with AMD processors, increasing the share of the computer processor in the market for processors of desktop by more than 20% during the third quarter. It is very likely that the company will see the figure rise even further to the 30% level again. '
In terms of the server processor market, AMD's 7000 series EPYC processors have been well adopted by Mellanox and Samsung Electronics since their launch in June 2017 and the firm's expanded EPYC series has also gained strong support from heavy customers like Microsoft, Baidu, Dell, Supermico and HP, as well as Inventec, Wiestron, Asustek and Gigabyte. EPYC series processors are expected to help AMD gain a 5% share of the global x86 server platform market by the end of 2018, which has been 99% controlled by Intel. AMD's latest EPYC processor codenamed Roma adopting the Zen 2 architecture is scheduled for volume production in 2019 with a 7nm process from TSMC after delivery of samples by the end of 2018.
