Ryzen PRO 4000U, the new AMD APUs for the professional segment

AMD currently offers up to four different product lines within the Ryzen family: Ryzen, Ryzen APUs, Ryzen PRO, and Ryzen PRO APUs. These are different solutions for different segments, aiming to provide optimal solutions for all their customers. Now, AMD is updating its Ryzen PRO APU line, announcing the new Ryzen PRO 4000U series , which integrates graphics, allowing for cost savings and enhanced security.

The new three models with integrated Vega iGPU are characterized by reinforced security, something necessary for the professional segment. These processors are very low consumption, with a TDP of up to 25W. Some processors that have gone quite unnoticed after the two processors and chipset announced yesterday.

New AMD Ryzen PRO 4000U APUs

These new Ryzen PRO 4000, despite their name, are characterized by being Zen2 @ 7nm architecture. As we have mentioned, they integrate a discrete Vega iGPU, which allows customers to save on installing a dedicated graphics. Ideal for offices, where a graphic with special power is not required.

As a first solution we have the Ryzen 3 PRO 4450U with 4 cores and 8 threads working at a base frequency of 2.5GHz and that arrives in Boost mode at 3.7GHz. It is complemented by 4MB of cache and a Vega 5 @ 1400MHz. We went to the Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U with 6 cores and 12 threads with a base frequency of 2.1GHz and arrives in Boost mode at 4.0GHz. It is complemented by 8MB of cache and a Vega 6 @ 1500MHz. Finally we have the Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U with 8 cores and 16 threads working at a base frequency of 1.7GHz and arriving in Boost mode at 4.1GHz. It is complemented by 8MB of cache and a Vega @ 1600MHz.

The three processors have a configurable TDP that goes from 10W to 25W, as desired by the system assembler. An interesting fact that AMD gives is that these processors have FP6 encapsulation with a Tmax of 105ºC. Additionally, they support DDR4 @ 3200MHz RAM or LPDDR4 @ 4266MHz.
