AMD Ryzen surpasses 25% market share on Steam

Steam's hardware statistics are far from a true reflection of the gaming market. AMD sells Ryzen processors with ease, but Steam's data doesn't exactly show this. According to September's statistics, AMD has finally managed to surpass a 25% market share on Steam, increasing its share by more than 3% since May, seemingly thanks to Ryzen.

During the last few months we only see reports of the gigantic sales of AMD Ryzen processors. A few months ago Intel launched the Comet Lake-S processors, of which there is hardly any stock. In addition, the AMD Ryzen 5000 should be presented next week that will offer an improvement of at least 15% of IPC over the Ryzen 3000.

AMD Ryzen already has more than 25% market share on Steam

Although the Steam statistics are a very interesting indicator, they are far from being really reliable. The data is usually quite far from reality, as the data is not usually updated automatically. Although it is interesting data, the sales indicators in Germany are much more reliable than this data.

Steam also offers really vague data in the processor space compared to graphics. Only the frequency data, neither name nor processor model from both AMD and Intel are displayed. So it is very difficult to know the actual market share of AMD Ryzen solutions on this platform.

Also keep in mind that many users no longer access their account and the data may be out of date. Additionally, it may take many users years to update their systems. Perhaps we should simply keep that the company's processors are gaining ground on Intel solutions. We will see if these statistics continue to change in favor of the AMD Ryzen in the coming months.
