AMD returns to the Fortune 500 list, occupying position 460
The momentum in the AMD processor market is so good that it has managed to re-enter the Fortune 500 list after four years out.
AMD's recovery in the processor market has been made possible by the Zen architecture. Ryzen has been a major turning point, while the Radeon division has yet to gain traction. This has led the company to achieve its best fiscal results of the year. This increase in revenue has allowed the company to return to the Fortune 500 list . This list ranks the 500 companies with the highest revenue in sectors such as technology, mining (precious metals), and banking, among others.
AMD re-enters the Fortune 500 list
We have to go back to 2015, when AMD exited this list shortly after the Bulldozer processors were released. These processors were a great failure for the company. Intel took advantage of the great failure of AMD to become strong in the processor market. AMD decided to duck its head and focus on Bulldozer development. Things have changed with the arrival of the Ryzen, Threadripper and EPYC. The third generation Ryzen and EPYC are approaching, while the Threadripper will leave the market.
It enters the Forbes 500 list to occupy position 460. It is undoubtedly a good figure, but it is very far from NVIDIA, which occupies position 268. The separation with Intel is even greater, since the company occupies the position 43, which is almost 400 positions away.
Possibly and if everything remains the same, AMD is still higher. The arrival of the Ryzen 3000 and EPYC may shake up the processor market. Not only the good moment of the company is for having done well, it is also partly due to Intel's problems. The company has serious problems to satisfy the demand and the processors in 10nm do not arrive. Factors that complicate things a lot for Intel.
