Intel Optane 905P 480GB and 960GB Hard Drives Announced

Introduced new Intel Optane units, in this case the new Optane 905P, intended for the professional and advanced segment, with performance improvements over the Optane 900P.

One of the markets in which Intel is pushing with great force is that of solid state hard drives and during Computex, the company has presented several novelties, including the Intel Optane 905P. These new storage units increase capacities, while reducing the dimensions of these units and increasing performance. It should be noted that these units use 3D XPoint memories, designed to offer great performance and features.

Intel introduces the Intel 905P Storage Drives.

Specifically, two units have been presented, the first of 480GB in a 2.5 ”format and U.2 connection and the second, of 960GB, using a PCIe x2 card. A drive with an M.2 form factor has not been introduced, thinking of offering the best possible performance. Both units have an Intel Custom NVMe controller, to offer the best possible performance.

The company establishes the minimum at 480GB, much higher in terms of capacity, with respect to the Intel 900P, which in its most basic model offered 280GB of storage and the model with the most capacity, was 480GB, now leaving 480GB for the input capacity and 960GB, for the maximum capacity.

The performance of these drives in sequential reading is 2600MB / s, while in sequential writing it is 2200MB / s. We move on to random reading, which is 575000IOPS, while random writing is 550000IOPS. These units will have a five-year warranty and at the moment the date on which these units will hit the market and their prices are unknown, but they seem to be more focused on the professional segment.
