AMD Ryzen 7000G APUs will have low-end models based on Phoenix 2

AMD’s Ryzen 7000G APU models should be announced and arrive within a few weeks. These APUs will be powered by the 4nm “Phoenix” monolithic processor silicon and will be compatible with the Socket AM5 desktop package.

These APUs will have as a great feature of interest having an iGPU based on the latest RDNA3 graphics architecture. These iGPUs will have up to 12 computing units worth 768 stream processors and They will have full compatibility with DirectX 12 Ultimate. The integrated graphics in these processors should be able to handle 720p to 1080p gaming on basic-medium settings, with the help of FSR to boost performance. It’s not yet known whether Ryzen AI will make its way to the desktop platform. “Phoenix” features an 8-core, 16-thread CPU based on the latest “Zen 4” microarchitecture.

There would be low-end models of the Ryzen 7000G APUs with integrated graphics

AMD is bringing the “Phoenix” chip to the desktop platform and to the processor models featured in a recent leak that reference the smaller “Phoenix 2” chip. This model would be physically smaller, featuring a CPU with two Zen 4 cores and four Zen 4c cores; and an iGPU that has no more than 4 compute units worth 256 stream processors. OPN codes for at least three processor models have reportedly appeared on the web.

We explain what are CPU integrated graphics

Those three processors are:

  • Ryzen 5 PRO 7500G (100-000001183-00
  • Ryzen 5 7500G (100-00000931-00)
  • Ryzen 3 7300G (100-000001187-00)

The specifications of these potential AMD Ryzen 7000G APUs are unknown, but they’d be expected to be low-end with either four- or six-core combinations in total. Both the “Phoenix” and “Phoenix 2” chips feature identical I/O with dual-channel DDR5 memory interface and 4-lane PCI-Express Gen 24. This could mean that the PEG x16 slot will run at PCie Gen 4 speeds even on B650E and X670E motherboards, and that only one of the two CPU-connected NVMe x4 slots will be active.

The leak, according to tech outlet Power Up, also includes other low-end Hawk Point-based laptop processor models. These could be refreshed “Phoenix” and “Phoenix 2” models that bring “Zen 4” CPU cores to the Ryzen 8000 series, just as Zen 3-based “Rembrandt-R” cores were brought to the Ryzen 7030.
