ASRock implements Clever Access Memory (Re-Size BAR) for its Z490 Taichi motherboards

The first motherboard manufacturer to support Re-Size BAR on its Intel Z490 motherboards has been ASUS. MSI has announced that this week the new BIOS will arrive that adds support for this technology. Now it is ASRock who announces support for this technology, which it has called Clever Access Memory (CAM). Basically it is the same Re-Size BAR but with a different name.

The Re-Size BAR technology that has been implemented by AMD, ASUS, MSI and now ASRock has been around for a long time. It simply allows the processor to have access to all the VRAM of the graphics card, without the slightest restriction. Clever Access Memory is simply ASRock's trade name for this technology.

ASRock adds Clever Access Memory to its Intel Z490 motherboards

It seems that in the end we will have 10 names for the same technology, which has been available for years. Intel Haswell processors from 2014 have been known to support this technology, but have never taken advantage of it. AMD has been the smartest offering support for the Ryzen 5000 and the Radeon RX 6000. Interestingly, it can only be used with the Radeon RX 6000, since NVIDIA does not support it ... at the moment.

Those with an ASRock Z490 Taichi motherboard can now download the new BIOS that Re-Size BAR adds. Note that the BIOS released is v1.72 BETA, it is not a final version of the BIOS.

Wccftech has been able to test the performance of the ASRock Z490 Taichi with an RX 6800 XT and active Re-Size Bar. For the game Shadow of the Tomb Raider there is a 3.3% improvement in performance. Whereas for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, a performance improvement of 11.5% is achieved. As always, the story varies depending on the game, the setup and the rest of the usual parameters. It seems little, but any improvement without paying more or overclocking, is appreciated.
