ASUS Says RoG Strix RX 5700 Series Thermal Issues Are AMD's Fault
A few months ago , AMD launched its RX 5700 Series graphics cards to compete with NVIDIA 's mid-range offerings . These cards represent a significant evolution from Polaris and are much more efficient than Vega . The most expensive and visually striking model is the ASUS ROG Strix, featuring the brand's signature three-fan cooler. However, despite this cooler, Hardware Unboxed reports that the overall cooling system is mediocre.
It might seem strange that an ASUS graphics card with that 3-slot PCI cooler and 3 fans would have temperature issues. Hardware Unboxed suggests the problem could lie in quality control. However, Overclock3d.net indicates that it's not ASUS's fault, but rather the fault of AMD's specifications for the RX 5700 Series.

Overclock3d.net publishes an entry with data provided by ASUS RoG. This publication emphasizes that it is not their fault, but AMD, who provided incorrect specifications for the RX 5700 Series. Specifically ASUS says that AMD recommended an air pressure of between 30-40 PSI. ASUS after the complaints has tested and actually the optimal pressure for the RoG Strix would be between 50-70 PSI, much more than what AMD said.
Inside the note they say that the user adjustments are assuming an excess of pressure in the truck of Navi. They note that they have adjusted the graphics screws to improve pressure on the GPU DIE. This setting allows for greater heat transfer between the GPU and the heatsink. All units sent from January 2020 are already with the adjustments made. ASUS even indicates that they can contact them to do the screw update free of charge.
The post is from February 14th, a few days after Radeon drivers gave problems on Navi-based graphics. Something that filled Reddit with criticism and reports, whose origin seems to be in the specifications given by AMD. It is expected that the developer of the RX 5700 Series of explanations shortly.
Press release about it
The initial batches of ROG Strix 5700 Series graphics cards were built following AMD guidelines. After receiving reports from users about temperature issues, we conducted extended R&D tests to find the optimal PSI range for our graphics cards without compromising GPU reliability.
As a result, all ROG Strix Radeon RX 5700 Series graphics cards shipped as of January 2020 feature new screws that increase the cooler mounting pressure to 50-60 PSI, resulting in better heat transfer from the GPU to the heatsink.
Of course, we are committed to supporting our clients. We would like to offer the same benefits of the new mounting screws to users who have already purchased a ROG Strix Radeon RX 5700 Series graphics card. If you already have one of these cards and want to have it modified to use the new mounting screws, please contact your nearest ASUS service center from March 2020 and we will be happy to perform the update for you.
We would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your continued loyalty and trust in ROG.

what the hell is the truck
The Spanish word for DIE
Ok, if AMD says the setting is such - that it is just insufficient - but not a chip problem and they release the product without testing it, the fault lies with ASUS who builds the device.
