ASUS updates its Z690 motherboards to be compatible for Raptor Lake
ASUS today announced support for the 13th Gen Intel Core Raptor Lake via BIOS update for Z690 series motherboards. With this update, a wide range of motherboards are prepared for the new wave of Intel CPUs.
ASUS offers several tools to update BIOS, which are BIOS Flashback and EZ Flash. The BIOS Flashback design allows users to update the BIOS without entering the BIOS screen. For its part, the ASUS EZ Flash 3 program allows them to easily update the BIOS version without entering the Windows operating system.
ASUS Z690s now support future Alder Lake CPUs
ASUS 600 series motherboards will receive support for these new CPUs according to the table below:

All UEFI BIOS updates will be available on the respective motherboards' support pages, which can be accessed through the ASUS support website. The vast majority of listed motherboards have Raptor Lake support with BIOS version 1601. For their part, the motherboards PRIME Z690-P WIFI, PRIME Z690-P, PRIME Z690-P WIFI D4, PRIME Z690-P D4 and
PRIME Z690M-PLUS D4 have to be updated to version 1603 if they want to be compatible with the new generation of Intel Core CPUs.
Compatibility with Rapter Core CPUs is possible since they have the same socket as Alder Lake, the LGA 1700. However, they will not be compatible with the next generations Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake, which will use the LGA 1851 socket. With this, it will not be possible to reuse the motherboards with the CPUs that will arrive at the end of 203 and 2024, but compatibility with heatsinks will most likely remain that are already compatible with LGA 1700 by having the same surface size.
