AMD is expected to lower the price of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D for not being "the best processor for gaming"

When AMD's Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor came out, it was sold as "the best gaming processor on the market," backed by its 3D cache that allowed it to have much more cache to make smaller processes faster. This gave rise to better gaming performance, and a great start for AMD in its 3D Cache journey that is postulated as a strong incentive for its CPUs in the future, although there is no Zen 4 CPU expected with this 3D Cache at launch.

Now the launch of the Ryzen 7000 is approaching with the debut of the Zen 4 cores, which will have a higher performance in general. All this means that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is no longer, at least in the AMD catalog, the best gaming processor in the world and therefore a price reduction is most likely expected.

Soon you will be able to have the cheapest 5800X3D, which is still a monster for gaming

The Ryzen 7 5800X3D is rumored to receive a price reduction next month, when AMD releases its latest Zen 4 CPUs. The rumor comes from Greymon55, who claims that AMD may be preparing a price cut for its single 3D V-Cache chip. It was released in April and proved to offer faster gaming performance, even outperforming the Intel Core i9-12900KS. Five months later, you can receive a price reduction, although it is not known if it will be a price adjustment specific to retailers.

The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D launched with an RRP of $449. It seems that the 5800X3D is the only chip in the Ryzen 5000 series that hasn't been reduced in price yet, as the others have dropped quite a bit to sell more easily to make room for the Ryzen 7000 lineup.

Of the Zen 4 that were presented, it seems that the only piece of 8 cores, which should technically replace the 5800X3D, is going to be priced at $299, a very competitive price considering its clock speed improvement over its predecessor. So it looks like the 5800X3D could end being slightly slower or on par with the Ryzen 7 7700X and that should take AMD and its partners a sizeable price drop, as they can't sell it as the best gaming processor and have to liquidate their stock.

Although it will not be the end of the AMD X3D project. While there isn't any such at launch for Zen 7, some Ryzen 7000 is expected to arrive later with an X3D version.
