Intel has just officially announced the Intel Arc A750 graphics card, which will be its mid-range desktop offering. Along with the announcement, it released the first performance figures, showing how it compares to the GeForce RTX 3060 in a selection of five games.
While the results so far are quite positive, it's important to understand that these published results are provided by the manufacturer . The actual benchmarks will be available once Intel launches these desktop cards worldwide, allowing for independent comparison.
The Intel Arc A750 impresses in its first benchmarks, although they come from Intel
Ryan Shrout, a member of Intel Graphics' marketing team, showed a short segment of the Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark sequence . All tests were performed at 2560x1440 resolution with "high" graphics settings. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 held its own in terms of gaming performance, as it can easily handle 1080p with maximum settings in most games , and 1440p at high quality should typically deliver 60 fps or more. This all aligns with Intel's figures, but the most important aspect is how the Arc A750 performs.
Across the five games tested, the Intel GPU delivered 13% more performance on average. The advantage starts from 6% in Fortnite to 17% in F1 2021. The price issue is going to be a bit more complicated, but it is expected to cost between 300 and 350 dollars. If true, it could become the most desired graphics card for consumers.
Their other major problem will be the drivers for Arc cards, whose performance can vary significantly between games. While Intel has improved in this area, it's still far from matching the availability and compatibility of AMD and NVIDIA. They also failed to test ray tracing effects , even though Control, Cyberpunk 2077, and Fortnite support DirectX Raytracing. In terms of ray tracing units, the Intel Arc A750 likely has 24, just four fewer than the 28-core RTX 3060. For now, the results are interesting, and if combined with a truly attractive price, Intel could make a significant impact on the graphics card market it's aiming to enter.
